An FCT High Court in Abuja has issued an interim injunction restraining certain individuals from holding or proceeding with a purported parallel National Elective Congress of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN scheduled for today, pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice in a suit before the Court.
It would be recall that the National Youth Council of Nigeria held its National Elective Congress from 19th to 22nd September, 2025 in Bayelsa State, where Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo was legitimately re-elected as President of NYCN, alongside members of its National Executive Committee comprising both new and old members.
Justice J.E. Obanor of the FCT High Court issued the interim order upon hearing the motion Ex parte brought before it by Incorporated Trustees of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo on behalf of the National Executives of NYCN against the Respondents in the matter including Ademola Gbenga, Okechukwu Nnamene, Abel Abaji, Alex Allen Akin and Hassan Mamman.
The Court also ordered the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Security Service, DSS who were joined as Respondents in the matter to enforce the order restraining the aforementioned individuals, their agents, privies or associates from holding or proceeding with a parallel National Elective Congress of NYCN today pending the determination of the motion on notice in the suit before the Court.
The Court adjourned the matter to 16th October, 2025 for hearing of the motion on notice.
